On June 7, 2025, the salon titled "Complex Leadership Leading High-Performance Culture," co-hosted by the Complex Leadership Laboratory and Zixin Business School, was held at the Suzhou Campus of Renmin University of China. Dr. Sophie Zhai, Founder of Sushui Tech, as an invited guest, shared insights alongside Dr. Anu Rathninde, Visiting Professor at the Business School of East China University of Science and Technology and the International Business School of Zhejiang University.

During the salon, Dr. Anu Rathninde discussed how leaders should cultivate complex leadership in the current knowledge-based economy and complex business environment to address evolving challenges and maintain a team’s vitality and social adaptability. He demonstrated the construction of complex leadership using the SIILA model, which outlines a structured approach to navigating multifaceted leadership demands.

Dr. Sophie Zhai combined her entrepreneurial experience to share her in-depth understanding of the SIILA model in practice. She emphasized that the core of leadership lies in self-leadership. In enterprise development, there is no "best" talent but only "better" ones, so everyone must strive for self-improvement, actively learn through human interaction, and adapt and change based on acquired knowledge to achieve desired outcomes.

Throughout the salon, Dr. Sophie Zhai and Dr. Anu Rathninde engaged in face-to-face exchanges with attendees from various sectors, delving into topics such as maintaining high performance under high pressure and guiding teams to find direction amid uncertainty. The dialogue provided practical insights into applying complex leadership principles to real-world organizational challenges.
